Since 2005 the Institute of Architecture and Planning at the University of Liechtenstein has maintained an academic exchange programme with the Misr International University (MIU) in Cairo. As a part of this exchange, H. Hilti travels to Cairo at least once per year. In 2010 he was awarded the title of Adjunct Professor.

Teaching theory, design, urban planning and acting as thesis supervisor

In contrast to the very rural environment of Morelos, work in the metropolis was strongly influenced by omnipresent social inequity and tensions. The social engagement of students had significant impacts on contents (urban sociology and planning) and themes (slum rehabilitation, planning support in cases of illegal land appropriation).

Teaching design and planning in the context of 3rd and 5th study years as well as thesis supervision

The core didactic concept lay in the spatial distribution of diploma candidate groups amongst numerous cities and villages in the federal province. The direct exchange with the public and the planning services provided to communities was a key learning and teaching experience.
